Employee Handbook

Welcome to Pet Loyalty!

Our Mission

Pet Loyalty’s mission is to simplify animal welfare.

Pet Loyalty simplifies animal welfare at every step of the animal welfare lifecycle. ShelterBuddy’s comprehensive shelter management software makes it easy to manage the highly complex operations of an animal shelter. Then, Adopets simplifies the process of connecting shelters with adopters for a simple, delightful experience. Once adopted, Pet Perks seamlessly delivers expert curated resources to simplify the journey of pet parenting.

Core Values

Our core values are respect, commitment, and transparency, aimed at reflecting the values of our stakeholders that must respect the animals they care for, the tireless shelter managers and pet parents commitment to the animals they love, and the transparency that ensures our industry is treating animals with care and respect.

In the name of these values, we’ve created this handbook to provide clarity to your work experience, divided into sections by the people and elements you’ll relate to as an employee here.

Note: The below items are for Pet Loyalty’s full-time employees. For the contractors and contributors serving us outside of that engagement, please see the Contractor Handbook.

Your Manager

Your manager at Pet Loyalty is your guide to making sure your work-life is supporting you in all ways. Notify your manager for PTO requests, travel and lodging, and other feedback.

For PTO, you can submit requests to either your regional manager (Australia, USA, or Brazil) or your department manager (Product, SB Engineering, AME Engineering, or Revenue).

🏖️ Planned PTO

PTO varies by role and region, so consult your employment letter for your specific PTO plan.

  • Notify your manager via email 2+ weeks in advance.

  • Create an all-day event for approved days off in your Pet Loyalty Google Calendar titled “PTO - [your name].”

  • Invite the Pet Loyalty PTO Calendar to the invite. Acceptance of this event is synonymous with the PTO request being accepted.

🤒 Sick days

  • Notify your manager and your team’s Slack channel. Notify external stakeholders if you are unable to attend meetings.

  • Create an all-day event titled “PTO - sick - [your name]” & invite the Pet Loyalty PTO Calendar.

For both of the above, be sure to sync your Slack status with your Google Calendar so that your teammates are automatically informed of your absence with no extra work for you.

✈️ Business Travel

Going to a conference, customer visit, or other business travel coordinated by Pet Loyalty? Coordinate with your manager beforehand for clear expectations around:

  • Transportation expenses

  • Lodging

  • Meals

  • Other specific expenses

Pet Loyalty prefers to manage expenses and minimize employees paying for items. If you have a corporate AMEX, please prioritize the use of that. For reimbursements on approved expenses, please send receipts to receipts@petloyalty.co. Expenses are reimbursed within 30 days. If you need it sooner, please let your manager know.

🌎 Your Region

A global, remote organization, Pet Loyalty has three main headquarters: USA, Brazil, and Australia.

Not in a Pet Loyalty HQ country? Your region is identified in your employment letter.

🎄Company Holidays

Wondering if we take a day off? Pet Loyalty's holiday calendar (linked here) displays company holidays with regional icons. Enjoy the day off if your regional flag is in the calendar item. ( 🇧🇷, 🇺🇲, 🇦🇺 ).
