Set up an API user so that Petcademy can connect to ShelterBuddy to retrieve animal and people information:

  1. Go to admin > edit user access > Add

  2. Add a user using these details:

    • User Name: Petcademy API

    • Login: petcademy.api

    • Pass: use a service like StrongPasswordGenerator  to generate a complex and random password.

    • System options > Set User Type for user

    • From this screen search for the user that you created and then select "external api" and click update.

  3. Email Petcademy the address of the customer's ShelterBuddy site and the username and password that was created.

  4. When they are ready to go live (not sooner because it will show the opt-in page for adoptions on their site without warning), go to this page on the site:
     /administration/LookupItems/LookupListItem.aspx?l=152
    Then edit the option for Petcademy and then tick the checkbox for the option to show. This will then turn on the option to show the opt-in page.
